Needs a sequel
This game is a quiet gem that really deserves more recognition. Its not the same puzzle solving gameplay that youd expect from a traditional Professor Layton game but I think it does its own thing very well. It feels a bit like Ace Attorney but a little more directed and accelerated. However, dont think that makes it easy; some of the later cases get quite tricky!
Speaking of the cases, the writing itself is bloody brilliant. While the cases start out relatively straightforward, each successive mystery provides an interesting gameplay twist on the investigation formula to keep it fresh, with a well-written story hook as justification. I also found the dialogue extremely charming, especially Lucys Yorkshire accent, among others. Id also be remiss not to mention the fantastic jazzy soundtrack, which is uniformly catchy and evocative.
Heres hoping they eventually make good on their sequel hooks. And remember: every puzzle has an answer!
